PostHeaderIcon Straw Bale Gardening,or “How to HACK Your Grow Space”

My wife turned me onto this and I can see it becoming an integral part of my life. Also,it HAS to qualify as a Doublenotspy topic. Its actually very simple and straightforward. The deal is this…You get STRAW bales, not hay and arrange them how you see fit with strings out,not on the ground as it will cause premature deterioration of your bales. Then you water them for 5 to 7 days..and then you dig ot a hole with a sharp trowel or “ice the cake” with potting soil about 4″ deep for seeeds or directly in the straw for others.Tomatoes must be sturdily staked, you can arrange them however you wish and connect bales with string. The key is watering and fertilizing, and it fools the plants to thinking its farther along in the growing season..I think I’ve found my new hobby,no tillling,no mowing and its good for 2 years then it becomes mulch..I;m in!!!!!!!!
